{"id":5893,"date":"2019-07-29T01:01:39","date_gmt":"2019-07-29T01:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/developer.wordpress-developer.us\/instituteofhypnotherapy\/?p=5893"},"modified":"2022-03-31T11:15:39","modified_gmt":"2022-03-31T15:15:39","slug":"new-standards-for-hipaa-and-hypnotherapy","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/developer.wordpress-developer.us\/instituteofhypnotherapy\/new-standards-for-hipaa-and-hypnotherapy\/","title":{"rendered":"New Standards for HIPAA and Hypnotherapy"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the Institute of Interpersonal Hypnotherapy, we have always prided ourselves that we are \u201cRaising the Standards of Hypnotherapy Training.\u201d Through our Association, the International Association of Interpersonal Hypnotherapists, we continually work to protect the free and open practice of Hypnotherapy by ensuring that our students, graduates, members, and staff are operating at the highest levels of professionalism, with high ethical standards, proper semantics in advertising, solid scope of practice assessment protocols, and a clear understanding of Hypnosis Law.<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">With this in mind, we discussed HIPAA and Hypnotherapy at our recent Hypnotherapy Conference, and also in a very recent online discussion forum. We have also implemented new IAIH standards to make IIH graduates and IAIH members HIPAA compliant.&nbsp; Read more here about an ongoing dialogue that is truly illustrative of the respect that we deserve as Certified Clinical Hypnotherapists with State-Licensed diplomas\u2026<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Recent News<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">IAIH worked with the City of Lighthouse Point in Broward County, Florida to change their understanding of Florida Hypnosis Law.&nbsp; Broward County now considers the practice of Hypnotherapy to be within the realms of \u201calternative\/holistic medicine\u201d when granting Business Tax Receipts and the City of Lighthouse Point has placed our occupation under the category of \u201cmental health counseling.\u201d<\/p>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This movement towards being more and more respected as a legitimate profession requires that we \u201cwalk the talk,\u201d and abide by the highest standards of professionalism, as we make significant progress in how we are viewed as Hypnotherapists.<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HIPAA Compliance<\/h2>\n<p style=\"font-weight: 400;\">HIPAA laws require that when a medical professional makes a referral to another professional that the person who receives that referral is considered a \u2018Business Associate.\u2019&nbsp;
